Lanzarote in January

From Barcelona to Lanzarote

Barcelona Airport. 17:30 local time and a temperature of 8 Celsius degrees outside. It is the coldest of the last days of January. Embarking on Vueling airline. I settle into my 27E seat. After seeing the first 2 chapters of Captain Alatriste, and 3 hours of flight, I stand at the airport Arrecife. I change my wristwatch with the so popular in advertising one hour less that has provided to the Canary Islands. And now, enjoy eternal spring. Lanzarote in January flatters me with a clear sky and 22 ° C.

Once on the island…

After picking up my car, and paying only € 55 for 4 days, I turn to my friends house Oscar and Aura. They are our main collaborators in Lanzarote. They welcome me to their beautiful house in Costa Teguise. And, after a hearty dinner of freshly caught some delicious cabrillas by Oscar that day, I am headed towards Marina Rubicón. There, it was waiting for me my floating hotel: Aura Marina, a stunning Hatteras 45 ‘Flybridge. Of course, the views are unbeatable and the atmosphere of the dock is priceless… I’m used to sleep on boats but this is the first time I do so here in Lanzarote. Normally, I travel there for work each month, and usually stay in one of our villas or hotels.

The next day…

At 06:30 local time, my biological clock wakes me up and I get going. Slowly, parted the curtains of the gate of the cabin. Meanwhile, I’m still discovering a sheet of dark water due to lack of sunlight. Frugal but restorative shower. I’m walking through this magnificent and modern Marina. I noticed ships are passing, and they are those who plan to cross the Atlantic. It is easy to discover: BLU antennas, solar panels, windmills. And also crossarm protectors not to wear the mainsail in bearing, and other supplies to meet sailings between about 18 and 20 days.

The navigation

In our logbook, today we noted down that we had to go to Isla de Lobos. Abisea embarked on a Valiant 850 with 2 engines Mariner Verado 175 hp. We leave the entrance. There, landed to the Director of Origo Mare resort, which features 323 exclusive villas in Majanicho, and with whom we are finalizing the details to incorporate in our nautical Plans from Nautic Ocean.

Sailing again headed to Isla de Lobos, and now with little sea landed at the door of the stall of Antoñito the Farero. Crystal clear waters, and absolute tranquility on this island that is inhabited only during the day by visitors to this bar. We take a delicious paella accompanied by a nicely chilled white wine from Lanzarote. After eating and socializing with some local fishermen, we returned to Marina Rubicon and enjoyed a quick navigation in this magnificent and safe boat.

Lanzarote in January is definitely a good alternative. A different way to enjoy the pleasant climate of the island during this time of the year.
